Facilitators needed, call for mini talks.

Mark and Kevin off list have been in discussion about future sessions and how they want the group to run.

We seemed to have reached a critical mass where numbers are concerned and are regularly hitting 30+. This is a nice problem to have but numbers like these do tend steer the group towards lecture based sessions which although “valuable” are not really what this “values”. Coding, and/or doing provide a much richer experience in my opinion.

There was also discussion on how they didn’t want the events turning into the “Mark, Kevin or John” show. More often than not the same people run the sessions and whereas this is obviously a good thing when it’s me I can see where bringing others in would make the group sessions more diverse. However I do see that running a whole session can be a little bit daunting. What has been noted is that the previous 2 sessions have worked really well with the lightning talk formats and we should do more of that.

So what can we do about it all?
1) We want more facilitators – this next session would be an ideal opportunity for someone to do an easy session. If you wish to co-facilitate the beer game then please let me know asap. (via mail-list)
2) We are toying with having a mini-talk at the beginning of each event. If you have a burning desire to share something with the group but don’t think you can stretch to an hour then this is the spot for you. Feel free to get in touch with any session ideas. (again via mail-list)
