Lightning talks next month – volunteers please!

leave a comment »

It’s become a xpmanchester tradition to host an evening of lightning talks in July, which means we’re looking for willing speakers to step up.

So far we have three sessions tentatively scheduled –

  • Coaching
  • Using Data Science to Analyse Feedback
  • Refactoring Fast and Slow

Seasoned speaker or fresh faced newbie, all are welcome. If you’re nervous about speaking but want to give it a shot, we’re happy to help support you along the way. Your talk can be as short as 5 minutes. Send an email to markkirschstein -AT- gmail -DOT- com or tweet @xpmanchester

If you’re short of ideas, here’s a brief list of some sessions we’ve had in previous years –

  • What we learnt form the mob
  • Test Driven Novel Writing
  • How we’re going about replacing a legacy system by understanding our Core Domain
  • Economies of Scrum
  • We said it would be simple, not easy
  • Collaboration
  • The Bug-Free Backlog
  • Hidden Queues
  • Micro services
  • Haskell
  • Clojure
  • Erlang
  • REST
  • Pentagonal Architecture
  • Continuous Integration (Where did it all go wrong?)
  • Increasing Velocity

Could you help with Saturday venue?

It has been far too long since we held an all-day event, our last being XL4 way back in Feb 2013. We would love to rectify this.

First and foremost, we would need space. Running water is a plus, electricity is a must.

Central Manchester would be preferable, or some where within walking distance of good public transport links.

If you can help please get in touch,

or email markkirschstein ‘at’ gmail ‘dot’ com
